Japanese Special at Farmer & Cook (日本料理スペシャル！！！）

We made a Japanese Special this weekend at Farmer & Cook.

Olivia and I did some brainstorming for a week, and here is the "Sampler Plate" of our menu.

It included handmade Tofu, mini Tempra, Okara (soy bean skin, leftover from making tofu ), Roasted Turnips with walnut miso sauce, Nuta (leek with miso), and Sasa-sushi (sushi decoration on top of bamboo leaf).

It was a fun experiment.

今週末、仕事場のオーガニックレストランで日本料理スペシャルを企画しました。

オーナーの奥さんのオリビアと、どんなものがいいかしら。。。とアイデアを出し合って出来上がった一品がこちら☆　

限られた材料での挑戦でしたがなかなかの出来でした。

いろいろ創りだすのは楽しいですね☆

What A Year, 2010!!! （なんて年でしょう。。。２０１０年！！！）

This week is final exams for Spring semester at Ventura College.
This afternoon, Mr. Lawson asked me to stop by his office after Music History Final.

I thought "did I do something wrong!???"

今週は今学期末のテストの週。

午後、ミュージックヒストリーのクラス終了後、ローソン先生から後でオフィスに寄ってね、と言われました。

えっ！？　オフィス。。。なんか悪いことしたのかしら。。。私。。。

Anyway, when I visited his office, he told me that I was selected to be Student of the Year!!!

He said it was all my effort and hard work on music, and my helping the students in the keyboard classes.

I was so grateful because I had great opportunity to

learn about teaching, and to review all about the

keyboard. I had tears in my eyes...

I'd like to thank all my friends and teachers and Millennium for supporting me all semester.

彼のオフィスへいくと、ローソン先生から驚きのお言葉が。。。

”めぐみさん、あなたが今年のベストスチューデントに選ばれましたよ☆”　っと。

”え〜、この私がですか！？？？”

彼曰く、今学期のクラスでのがんばりとキーボードクラスでのアシスタントの功績が認められてのこと。だとか。感激で胸がいっぱいになりました。。。

今学期のキーボードクラスではアシスタントをさせていただき、初めて教える立場にまわってみて本当にたくさんのことを学びました。生徒とのコミュニケーションの取り方なども勉強になったし、今まで習ってきたことの復習にもなり曖昧だったコードやスケールも本当の意味で身に付いた気がしました。

私を支えてくれたカレッジの友だち、先生方、それからミレニアムに心から感謝しています。
