アメリカンインディアン、チューマッシュ族の聖地を訪れる (Visited the sacred place for Chumash)

A friend of ours, Red Bear is a Native American Chumash and he took us to a sacred place in the East End of Ojai.

It was a beautiful day after 6 inches of rain earlier this week.

The air was fresh and the sky was clear deep blue.

The trees were happy and fresh and green and fragrant.

The Sun was brightly shining.

I felt like I arrived in a beautiful new magical place.

This sacred place for Chumash is private land now, someone's back yard.

A back yard... back yard!?

It was a huge place, and so beautiful.

There were giant rocks!

アメリカンインディアン、チューマッシュ族のレッドベアーさんにオハイにあるアメリカンインディアンの聖地を案内していただきました。

先日の雨のおかげで木々の緑が特別に美しくまるで新緑の季節のよう。それに加えて澄み切った空気と真っ青な空、輝く太陽。。。と三拍子も四拍子もそろった日。

見慣れたオハイの町がまるで知らない土地を訪れたような感覚になりました。

聖地は現在はプライベートの土地になっているので、どちらさまかの裏庭におじゃますることになります。裏庭。。。裏庭！？　

裏庭がこんななんてスケールが違います☆

The whole rock is actually 10 times longer.

イルカ岩。写真はほんの一部、頭の部分。

実際はこの１０倍以上の大きさはあり、反対側もイルカの形をしている。

Whale Rock. She faces to the right.

This rock is huge too, many times longer than this picture.

If we go up on top we can see the tail too.

くじら岩。こちらも巨大岩。

裏山にのぼって見下ろすとクジラの尾の部分も見られるのだそう。

This bench has nice whale motif.

ベンチもくじらのモチーフ。かわいらしい。

The view from the sacred (energy) spot.

This place used to be a gathering site for Native Americans from all over the Western US. 

They performed healings and other ceremonies here.

聖地からオハイを一望。ここはアメリカンインディアンが聖地としている場所で、かつてはアメリカ全土からインディアンが集まりここでヒーリングが絶えず行われていたのだそう。

It is beautiful green valley.

We are living such a special place...

ここからオハイを一望できる。すばらしい景色に感動。。。オハイはこんな緑にだったっけ。
