I haven't had a long bicycle ride for a long time.
Millennium suggested we go for long bicycle ride before school starts, so we did.
It was a pleasant afternoon with a nice breeze.
We bicycled down Santa Anna Rd to the Ojai bicycle path, then toward to Ventura College.
It is about 20 miles one way.
The bicycle path is always fun to ride.
First, we don't have to worry about cars. Second, there are a lot of 'faces', lovely views looking down to the river bottom, an ugly view beside the abandoned old oil field, a pretty view behind the residential area. Third, it is pretty level and downhill all the way to Ventura, making it easy to ride.
It took about 3 hours to get there, going slow.
Slow riding, we see many details we never knew by driving a car.
Coming back, we could have taken a bus, but we bicycled.
My muscles and both knees started to get sore.
Then Millennium's bike got a flat tire.
We were three quarters of the way home. We could walk the rest.
When we walked with our bike, one kind neighbor stopped and gave us a ride.
It was a really wonderful day!
My legs are really tired though...
ここ数日はとても爽やかで気持ちのいいお天気つづき。学校が来週から始まるのでその前に長距離サイクリングでもしようか、と隣町のベンチュラカレッジまで自転車で行ってみることにしました。オハイにはベンチュラまで続く長い自転車ロードがあり、車などの心配もせず安心して自転車に乗れるので自転車愛好者だけでなくジョギングをしてる人、犬の散歩をしているひと、ウォーキングをしている人など多くの人に利用されています。ベンチュラカレッジまではざっと片道３０キロほど。
二人で昼すぎに出かけました。行きはわりと下り坂が多いので、爽やかな風に吹かれながら軽やかにスタート。がしかし、３０キロは結構長いね。途中でアイスクリーム休憩をして３時間後、無事到着。
用事を済ませて、さて帰り。
どうする？途中までバスで帰ろっか？。。。とも思ったがなんとなくがんばれば帰れそうな気もしたので、え〜いっっこのまま行ってしまえ。っと自転車で帰ることにしました。
中程までくると、筋肉痛がひざにきている。。。ん〜バスにすればよかったかな。
そしてあと４０分ほどのところでミレニアムの自転車がパンク。この辺りを走っているとよくあることなのだけれど、道のわきの雑草のとげを踏んじゃうんだよね。
ま、急ぎの道じゃないし歩いて帰るか。。。暗くなる前に家に着けばいいね、としばらく歩いたところで地元の親切な人に拾われ無事家までたどり着きました。
心も体もとてもいい運動になったけど、あ〜足が疲れたぁ〜。。。
